About Suzanne

I am a 5th generation settler on Vancouver Island. I grew up on the Saanich Peninsula where I spent a lot of time outside, helped my mom in the garden, studied microscopic creatures from the pond, swam in the sea with my nana, and created much art on many surfaces. During my work days, I work in IT with teams of software developers. In my spare time, I create art. Throughout my life I have explored many mediums. Currently, I create mostly in watercolor, assemblage and crochet.

 

In the forest, on the water, or under the sky, the sound is clear instead of being filled with the buzzing of electricity converting from one state to another. So, I spend my time enjoying the openness of the sky, the safety of the trees, the clarity of the lake, and the saltiness of the sea. I identify plants, creatures, rocks and clouds.

 

Art reminds us…

… that we’re not alone

… of the freedom of the open sky

… that friendship can make days good again

… of the intricacy of tiny creatures

… that we’re all here in the universe together

… of the joy and complexities of life

… that it’s a good thing to eat cookie dough and fill our pockets with rocks

… not to be afraid to be ourselves
